The Catoosa County school board is beginning the planning process for ESPLOST VII, which will be on the ballot Nov. 4.
As part of this process, the board invites the public to share its thoughts and ideas at a Community Engagement Meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the College and Career Academy at 190 Catoosa Circle in Ringgold, during the board’s regularly scheduled meeting. Citizens can also provide input about ESPLOST VII projects by sending an email to esplostVIIinput@catoosa.k12.ga.us.
“Since 1997, the citizens of Catoosa County have consistently demonstrated their commitment to public education by supporting the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, commonly known as ESPLOST,†the school board said in a media release. “This one-cent sales tax on consumer purchases has played a vital role in enhancing educational opportunities and improving school facilities for every student in our community.
“Thanks to ESPLOST, our children have the privilege of learning in safe, modern, and well-maintained schools. They benefit from access to excellent athletic facilities, inspiring performance venues, advanced classroom technology, and reliable transportation. From gymnasiums and theaters to individual learning devices and school buses, ESPLOST ensures our students are equipped for success.
“An added advantage of ESPLOST is that it brings in revenue from everyone who shops, dines, or buys gas in Catoosa County, not just local residents. Every transaction made by visitors outside our community is supporting education for CatoosaÐÔÊӽ紫ý children.â€
