GAYLESVILLE - The Gaylesville Trojans swept a varsity basketball doubleheader against visiting Alabama School for the Deaf on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans earned a 34-24 victory, while the Trojan boys claimed a 60-50 decision.
In the girls' game, Savannah Coker posted 15 points, five steals, three rebounds and an assist. Adriana Valencia added 11 points, 14 boards, nine steals and two blocked shots. Kambre Reed finished with five points, six rebounds, four steals and an assist for the Lady Trojans (4-15).
After trailing 14-12 at halftime and 18-17 after three quarters, Gaylesville rallied in the fourth by going on a 17-6 run for the final.
In the nightcap, Austin Stordahl tossed in 29 points to go along with nine steals, five assists and two rebounds for the Trojans (7-12). Landon Lawson finished with six points, three boards and an assist.
Gaylesville led at each of the quarter breaks. The Trojans held a 15-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 28-25 at halftime. Gaylesville held a 45-39 lead after three quarters.
Both Gaylesville squads travel to Victory Christian on Thursday.
