ELMORE, Ala. – ÐÔÊӽ紫ý of Corrections officials report that a state inmate died during an assault that happened at the Elmore Correctional Facility on Sunday, Feb. 26.
DeMarko Quinta Carlisle, 36, was stabbed during an altercation with another inmate inside the facility at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. Carlisle died from his injuries at 3:40 p.m.
Carlisle was serving a life sentence on a 1999 first-degree robbery conviction out of Jefferson County. The ADOC is not releasing the name of the suspect or the weapon used in the attack pending an investigation. A motive for the attack is not known at this time.
CarlisleÐÔÊӽ紫ý death is the second reported from an inmate assault at the Elmore Correctional Facility in the last 10 days.
Grant Mickens, 35, died Feb. 16, when he was fatally stabbed by Demetric Horsley, 31, who was charged with capital murder in Mickens’ death.
State inmate David Sanders was the victim of an attack at the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore on Feb. 16. Sanders died from his injuries at a Montgomery hospital on Feb. 18. Four inmates were detained as suspects in SanderÐÔÊӽ紫ý death.
The recent incidents at the Elmore and Staton Correctional Facilities are unrelated, according to prison officials.
Elmore Correctional Facility was locked down Sunday pending an investigation into the most recent incident.
