CENTRE - Emily Williams connected on what proved to be the game-winning 3-pointer with less than 1:30 remaining, lifting Class 4A, No. 6 Cherokee County past Glencoe 49-47 in girls basketball action on Tuesday in Centre.
Williams finished with 13 points and five rebounds for the Lady Warriors (16-6). Her game-winning 3-pointer was her third of the game.
Jensen Alexander also connected on three treys and topped the Lady Warrior scorers with 16 points. She also had eight rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Kendal Perry posted nine points, four assists and four steals.
Lauren Cole led Glencoe with 14 points. Anna Beth Giles added 11 points. Kenleigh Harper had eight points and Abby Vice finished with seven points.
Cherokee County hosts Piedmont on Friday.
Cherokee County 77, Glencoe 42
CENTRE - Zae Wright led four Cherokee Warriors in double figures with 15 points in the Class 4A, No. 7 Warriors' 77-42 boys basketball victory over Glencoe on Tuesday.
Tyren Dupree and Josh Dobbs both contributed 12 points for the Warriors (16-7). Chris Roden added 11 points. Will Hawkins and Marcus Barrington finished with six and five points respectively.
Micah Sizemore led the Yellow Jackets with 11 points. Jakeb Amberson and Sam Holbrooks both finished with nine points.
Sand Rock 58, Asbury 36
ALBERTVILLE - Savannah Blackwell fell just two steals short of a triple double Tuesday in lead Class 2A, No. 10 Sand Rock past Asbury 58-36 in girls basketball action on Tuesday.
Blackwell finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and three assists for the Lady Wildcats (18-8). Kirby DeBoard contributed 13 points, three assists, two steals and two boards. Audrey Richardson added 11 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Haylie Pruitt posted six points and a pair of boards. Paige Norris and Kynleigh Chesnut both finished with five points. Norris also had seven assists, three rebounds and three steals.
Sand Rock plays at Cedar Bluff on Thursday.
Appalachian 45, Gaylesville 24
GAYLESVILLE - Savannah Coker netted 15 points, had four steals and grabbed three rebounds, but they weren't enough to lead Gaylesville past Appalachian in girls basketball action on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans fell by the final of 45-24.
Kambre Reed finished with four points, five boards and two steals for the Lady Trojans (5-16).
Gaylesville hosts Georgia School for the Deaf on Thursday.
Appalachian 67, Gaylesville 53
GAYLESVILLE - Austin Slayton tossed in 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and had an assist, but the Gaylesville Trojans fell to Appalachian 67-53 in boys basketball action Tuesday.
Brayden Stordahl added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Trojans (8-13). Colby Scott contributed 10 points and five boards.
