If you鈥檝e made it to the Downtown LaFayette Farmers鈥 Market, then you鈥檝e likely come across a booth full of glittering bottles of golden olive oil and packages of crisp, colorful, pasta. Ashlie Head is the talent behind Meraki, and a few months ago she decided to share her culinary talents with her community.
Her organic, locally-sourced (hyper-local, the eggs are from her own chickens,) handmade pasta is an act of love shared across generations.
鈥淢y family used to make a lot of pasta back home in Queens,鈥 Head said. 鈥淕rowing up with a large Dominican-Italian family, we shared food and culture, and love.鈥
Head, guided by her purpose, is determined to share that kind of love with her customers.
鈥淔ood, love, passion,鈥 Head said. 鈥淚 had to brush up because it had been a minute. I spent weeks watching, learning, practicing, with a lot of epic fails and a lot of pasta for dinner.鈥
Meraki offers original, tomato and super greens pastas. Head set a goal to work with other Farmers鈥 Market vendors to source ingredients for new varieties while supporting other local entrepreneurs and hopes to expand her offerings throughout the summer. Her mantra in life and business is 1st Corinthians 16:4 鈥淲hatever you do, let it be done with love.鈥
