Fort OglethorpeÐÔÊӽ紫ý National Night Out returns Aug. 5 with food, fun, school supplies, and first responders — 2,000+ attendees expected this year.
National Night Out may be the most popular event in Fort Oglethorpe — a chance to meet law enforcement and first responders, swim for free, eat for free, win prizes, get school supplies for the kiddos and much more.
The event usually draws 1,000-1,500 people, but expectations this year are for 2,000.
The Fort Oglethorpe Police ÐÔÊӽ紫ý will be joined by the Ringgold Police ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, Catoosa County Sheriff, Catoosa County Fire ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, the 911 Center, EMS, the National Park Service and others. And Fort OglethorpeÐÔÊӽ紫ý new bike patrol will be present
There will be no end of fun for children (and grownups): thereÐÔÊӽ紫ý the playground, free swimming, games, face painting, free hotdogs, chips, popcorn, drinks and slushies, free school supplies, trinkets, ID kits, prizes and more.
The ever-popular Dunk-a-Cop tank is slated to return as a central attraction.
DJ Hacker will be providing music. A school bus will be on location to collect school supplies and hand them out to children. A Mary Ellen Locher bus will be available and offering free mammograms. Catoosa County government will be among those giving out school supplies.
Other sponsors include Food City (providing 1,500 hot dogs and buns), Walmart (providing chips), Publix (providing water), Coca Cola, 7-11, AT&T, Associa and others.
