Walker County government has partnered with FlashVote, a scientific public research firm, to form a panel of residents to answer short surveys on various topics and issues.
The panel will be used to gather valuable input from residents and help county leaders make informed decisions on county services, programs and initiatives.
Angie Teems
“We’re very excited to start using the data collected in these surveys to make better informed decisions to serve our residents,†said Angie Teem, county chairwoman and CEO. “With nearly 70,000 residents, thereÐÔÊӽ紫ý a large percentage of the population we never hear from. By joining the community panel, we can get more residents involved by making the public input process quick, easy and convenient.â€
Residents can sign up to be part of the panel at , call 775-235-2240 to participate by phone or text, or drop by the county administration building at 101 S. Duke St. in LaFayette to register in person.
When residents sign up for the panel, they can determine how surveys are received — whether by email, text or phone call. Whenever there is a new survey, panel members will receive a notification and have 48 hours to participate before voting closes. Surveys take about a minute to fill out and once the survey period closes, everyone who participates will receive a summary of the overall results and will be able to see how their responses compare to the group.
Registration takes less than one minute and citizen input is kept anonymous. Personal or demographic information collected by FlashVote is never shared with Walker County or anyone else.
The county hopes to have an initial community panel formed by the end of the month and issue its first survey by September.
