The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory which will be in effect from 3 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday.
According to reports the freezing rain will be south of areas along and north of a line from Millport to Cordova to Oneonta as well as north of Livingston to Pelham, Pell City to Anniston.
Residents are urged to be prepared for slippery roads and to slow down and use caution while driving. They should also be prepared for an upgrade to a winter storm warning if necessary.
Closings and delays have been announced in Cherokee County for Thursday.
Closings include Cherokee County Schools, The Cherokee County Child Development Center & Pre-K, Etowah County & Gadsden City Schools, Etowah County Judicial Building, Attalla City Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Cornerstone Christian Academy & Ft Payne City Schools, Jacksonville City Schools & Jacksonville Christian Academy, Calhoun County Schools and Anniston City Schools.
Delays include Cherokee County DHR which will open at 10 a.m. and the CED Mental Health Center which will open at noon.
