A local deputy arrested a Huntsville man recently in connection to a stolen vehicle recovered in the Broomtown area of Cherokee County Saturday, Oct. 8.
Arrested, according to a press release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, was Stephen J. Anthony, 31, who was charged with receiving stolen property in the first degree, resisting arrest and attempting to elude a police officer.
According to Shaver, Deputy Hunter Brisendine responded to a residence in northern Cherokee County after receiving information from On-Star that a vehicle stolen earlier in the day from Floyd County, Ga. was located there. When Deputy Brisendine arrive, a subject ran from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended.
Anthony was also arrested on an existing warrant for failure to appear on previous felony drug charges, according to the press release from Sheriff Shaver.
The suspect was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, Shaver said.
