Community Foundation to celebrate 10th Anniversary with $100,000 grant cycle
The Community Foundation for Greater Rome is proud to announce its 10th anniversary with a special annual grant cycle totaling $100,000 — its largest to date — dedicated to the memory and legacy of the late Villa Hizer.
“VillaÐÔÊӽ紫ý life was marked by her leadership, generosity and unwavering service to our community,†said Scott Smith, Chair of the FoundationÐÔÊӽ紫ý Board of Directors. “It is fitting that this milestone yearÐÔÊӽ紫ý grant cycle honors someone who so deeply embodied our mission.â€
The Greater Rome Impact Grant Fund, which directs resources to the areas of greatest need in Rome and Floyd County, is made possible through the generosity of donors who entrust the Foundation to steward their gifts with impact and integrity.
This yearÐÔÊӽ紫ý grant cycle also includes funding from:
* The Spiegelberg Memorial Fund, with a focus on initiatives benefiting the education and welfare of needy children.
* The First Christian Church Heritage Fund, supporting projects that enrich spiritual lives, promote diversity, and advance social justice.
* The Villa Hizer Fund, with a 2025 focus on supporting non-profit operational efficiency.
The deadline to apply for all grants is Friday, Aug. 29, 2025.
The Foundation has also made gifts to two special initiatives in celebration of its anniversary:
* A gift to the City of Rome for hanging flower baskets along Broad Street in honor of founding Board Member and former Executive Director Dr. Joel Snider.Â
* A Non-Profit Leadership Excellence Fund will be established in honor of longtime Executive Director, Ashley Garner.
“As we celebrate a decade of philanthropic partnership in Greater Rome, we wanted this yearÐÔÊӽ紫ý grants to reflect not only the needs of our community, but also the vision and leadership of those who built this foundation,†said Jennifer Scott, interim executive director. “We hope this energy and momentum for local philanthropy inspires others to join us in continued investment in our community.â€
In the words of Villa Hizer, “Your knowledge, compassion, and kindness are gifts you can always afford to give.â€
