This year's Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet is right around the corner and tickets are now on sale.Â
Seven new members will be added to the CGCSHF ranks this year with a banquet set for Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Calhoun Campus, 1151 Ga. 53 Spur.
Doors to the event will open at 6 p.m., with a catered dinner served beginning at 6:30, followed by athlete inductions and a team recognition ending before 9 p.m.Â
Tickets are $35 each for general admission that includes dinner, and full six-person reserved tables are available for $300 each.Â
CGCSHF board members and alumni met recently for this yearÐÔÊӽ紫ý official vote, choosing to induct seven new members:
♦ Lamar McEntire, Georgia School for the Deaf, football/basketball
♦ Richie Parker, Fairmount High School, basketball/baseball
♦ Eric Putnam, Red Bud High School, track
♦ Stephanie Caudell, Sonoraville High School, basketball coach
♦ Randy Steward, Sonoraville High School, wrestling coach
♦ Lanny Hamilton, Calhoun High School, athlete
♦ Amber Wilson Robbins, Gordon Central High School, track.
Additionally, the board selected teams to be honored at this yearÐÔÊӽ紫ý banquet with the following Fairmount High School girls basketball squads to be recognized jointly: 1985-86, 86-87, 87-88, and 88-89.

Athletes considered for induction to the CGCSHF are nominated by members of the public through the website, by emailing calhoungordonsports@gmail.com, or by mail at P.O. Box 1575, Calhoun, GA, 30703. Team inductees are nominated by members during a board meeting, and voted on by the Board of Directors annually.
