The Floyd County Commission was slated to settle on Tuesday, June 10, cases against three of the convenience stores cited for making illegal cash payouts on gaming machines but pulled two from their agenda Monday afternoon.
Commissioners also have several contracts and proposed purchases to consider at their meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the County Administration Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave. The meeting and 4 p.m. caucus are both public.
The remaining convenience store waived its hearing and agreed to sanctions in connection with the February coin operated amusement machine citations.
The board will consider changes in ownership of the beer, wine, fuel and amusement gaming room licenses at Berrie Mart, 3510 Martha Berry Highway.
Applications from Rome Marathon, 3007 Rockmart Highway, and Rome Gas Express, 4818 Alabama Highway, were removed from the agenda.
The GBI, alongside local law enforcement officers, cited 32 COAM locations in Rome and unincorporated Floyd County for making cash payouts. State law allows only store credit or gift cards. The machines were taken offline pending hearings by the Georgia Lottery Corp., which controls COAM licensing.
Among the other action items Tuesday, the county commission is expected to renew a contract with the Georgia ÐÔÊӽ紫ý of Transportation to sweep the bike lanes on the southwest leg of the bypass. GDOT will pay the county $1,000 a month for the work between ÐÔÊӽ紫ý 27 and Ga. 20.
The Floyd County Police ÐÔÊӽ紫ý also is asking for $9,300 to cover the annual cost of parking management equipment and software for the gated judicial parking lot at 3 Government Plaza.
Commissioners also are scheduled to go into a closed session during caucus to discuss property acquisition, litigation, and personnel. Any action would have to be done in public under the Georgia Open Meetings Act.
