Two Summerville residents are facing meth trafficking charges following a traffic stop for failure to maintain lane on Redmond Circle Monday night, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Timothy James Sweeney, 47, and Samantha Crowe DeBerry, 41, are charged with felony trafficking meth, possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of meth after they were found in possession of approximately 120 grams of meth.
They are also charged with possession of drug-related objects. DeBerry is further charged with felony possession of alprazolam and fentanyl strips and misdemeanor drugs not in original container.
Sweeney is also charged with misdemeanor failure to maintain lane. They both remained in jail without bond as of Tuesday.
Rome pair charged with stealing almost $300,000 from Broad Street business
Two people are facing felony theft charges after they stole almost $300,000 from a Broad Street business, Apex Freight Carriers, from May 2023 to August 2024, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Patricia Ann Morabito, 52, and Gary Adam Cook, 45, are charged with felony theft by taking. Morabito is charged with depositing over $220,000 of company assets into her personal accounts, as well as utilizing friends and family to unlawfully obtain funds from the business.
Cook took out over 200 cash advances, stealing about $90,000, over the same time period.
Three Rome teens charged in late-night fracas in South Rome
Three teenage girls were arrested after fighting in the street on Branham Avenue at Grover Street Tuesday night, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Michelle Tikayla Williams, 18; Nyrayah Cashiea Jahnae Davis, 18; and Teona Lashia Davenport, 17, were arrested. Williams and Davis are charged with misdemeanor affray, and Davenport is charged with misdemeanor assault.
Davis and Davenport remained in jail on $1,300 bond as of Wednesday.
East Rome woman charged with animal cruelty
An East Rome woman was arrested Tuesday after she starved her dog, named Dusty, at a residence on Maple Road, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jamie Lee Hamilton, 35, is charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals. She remained in jail on $10,100 bond as of Wednesday.
North Rome man charged with possessing amphetamines following traffic stop
A North Rome man is facing felony charges following a traffic stop on Superba Avenue Tuesday night for having a suspended registration, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Walter Lewis Posey Jr., 42, is charged with felony possession of amphetamine pills as well as misdemeanor possession of pills not in their original container and driving with a suspended registration.
Texas teen charged with theft following car chase
A Texas teen was arrested Tuesday for a car chase and collision that occurred on May 21 on Alabama Highway at Looney Road, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jayden Iziah-Alexander Johnson, 18, is charged with felony theft for being in possession of a 2017 Infiniti Q60 that he should have known was stolen in Texas.
He is held without bond as of Wednesday on a hold for Cherokee County, Ala.
Police: Patient threatened EMT in ambulance
A Rockmart man who was being transported in an ambulance on June 24 screamed and yelled at the paramedic treating him because she would not give him any more morphine, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Corey Anthony Blake Haygood, 31, is charged with misdemeanor assault. Haygood ripped the IV out of his arm and fled the ambulance after the vehicle stopped due to his erratic behavior.
South Rome woman charged with meth
A South Rome woman was arrested on Cave Spring Road Monday night after being found in possession of meth, reports state.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Catherine Marie Martin, 61, is charged with felony possession of meth and misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects. She remained in jail on a probation violation as of Wednesday.
